Summary: Jack and Daniel, in separate rooms, yet still joined, are thinking of their life

Daniel thought about Jack, in the SGC quarters next door. They couldn't sleep together tonight, on the brink of this new life of theirs, whatever it would be... That ambiguity was one of the reasons, Daniel knew, that Jack had given him the ring he was looking at right now. It was a 'Don't worry, I love you' for them both... Not that they doubted their feelings, but this new life was going to be difficult.

Daniel sighed. It wasn't as if they'd be able to get away from it all, from the equivalent of the SGC, at home – in their houses.

He touched the ring on his finger, and thought about Jack...

Jack knew that he shouldn't really be reading the new National Geographic Magazine, the last he was likely to read for, at least, a while; he should be sleeping, ahead of tomorrow – But he was reading to take his mind off of the fact that Daniel wasn't in his bed. He touched the wall, feeling the platinum on his finger make contact with the wall – He knew Daniel would be trying to sleep on the other side of this wall...

"It was either share a room with you, or share a room with my sister... That's an idea I don't relish!" Rodney McKay told his SGC Room-mate, Carson Beckett.

"Thanks, Rodney!" Carson joked. Carson sat down heavily on the bed provided for him, opposite Rodney's. The Military called these beds 'cots' for some reason... He wondered what his bed would be like in the city of Atlantis – if he would have one at all..! Cheering thought! His sarcastic sense of humour noted. I wonder if I'll ever share a bed with Rodney? He thought to himself... And, he knew full well in what sense he meant that ponderance. He had been in love with Rodney for a while now – he'd fallen for his friend quite soon after they'd met at the Stargate Program's Arctic Base. Next stop was Atlantis, in the Pegasus Galaxy, or so Carson hoped. He wasn't that trusting in Stargate travel's accuracy... He thought about home then. Home, Scotland, and his mother. He wouldn't let the tears threaten him again, but he couldn't help worrying for his Mum when he was so faraway...

He turned to the wall, lying on his bed, and rubbed his eyes. "See you in the morning, Rodney!" He said, as he closed his eyes, and started to try and sleep – at least next to, or near, the man he loved...
