Summary: Daniel's Daughter asks Jack to tell her about her father, the man he will always love

She sat next to Jack on the bench, beneath the tree. "Mum wanted to tell him... She did, but she knew he was in love with someone else, and she didn't want to get involved with his work... She always told me that she needed to get out of that world, and wanted me to have a normal life, too..."

Jack looked at her, Daniel's daughter. Dr Daniel Jackson and Dr Sarah Gardner's daughter... Funny how they both had a 'Sara/Sarah' in their lives... "Yeah, I can understand that..." Jack said. "He does, too..." Jack looked heavenward, as he spoke of Daniel...

Daniel's daughter smiled. Her smile was reminiscent of her father's, Jack couldn't help but note, catching the tears in the back of his throat at the sudden memory of that man's Beautiful smile...

"Mum was always really honest with me..." The young woman said, the woman with Sarah Gardner's hair, and Daniel Jackson's eyes... and his smile... "She told me about how he'd told her he was in love with someone else, but that night," she paused, talking of the night of her conception, "it happened between them anyway... Because of their past, because of what they had in common... A lot of reasons..." She mused.

"There were..." Jack agreed.

"She said he wanted a family. He wanted a family unit – that's why she would always feel guilty, in a sense, that she had kept me away from his everyday life... That she had taken me, and herself, back to England..." Miss Gardner-Jackson spoke.

"It was hardly every day..." Jack murmured evenly...

The woman next to him nodded. "She would never tell me what exactly you all did for a living back then, but so I gathered..."

Jack nodded. It was still going on now, in Cheyenne, and elsewhere, so near, and so far... But, for him, and even more so for Daniel, it was mostly a long time ago now... Jack stared out at the graveyard in front of him, at Daniel's headstone directly before him...

"You loved him, didn't you..? And you were the one he told Mum about that night?" Daniel's daughter spoke up.

"You have an instinct for being able to see the truth in me... Just like your father..." Jack grinned. He stared at Daniel's name on his headstone as he spoke to Daniel's daughter...
