A Testing Time

Summary: Jack and Daniel finally decide to get it together, and have a first night where they took turns to be 'the one on top'... Sometime later, they discover a consequence! Daniel, somehow, managed to get pregnant!
"Daniel, why did you swap the samples at your recent medical?" Janet confronted her friend.
"Sorry –what??" Daniel asked.
"The sample was a woman's, Daniel, a pregnant woman's!" Janet replied.
Daniel laughed, sort of. "The test result people must have muddled things up!"
" Apart from anything, I need to tell the real supplier of that sample that they're pregnant. I haven't seen any other signs of anything, any reason, that you might have felt the need to swap..." Janet queried.
"Because there's nothing to find, and I didn't cheat!" Daniel insisted. "No one else to tell either!"
"What did you cheat?" Jack walked in on the conversation, in his living room.
"Janet thinks I swapped my urine sample..." Daniel was perplexed.
Jack frowned. "It's your results people, Janet!" He explained.
"We'll have to do another test..." Janet stated.

Daniel handed over his urine sample. "You and Jack saw me. There was no chance of a swap, or abstaining from drugs... Nothing!" Daniel hung the towel on the back of Jack's bathroom door.
Janet took the necessary from her stash of Doctor's supplies. "It's still showing up that you're pregnant!" Janet told Daniel.
"Obviously, he can't be – so, what??" Jack asked.
"We'll do some more tests at the SGC tomorrow... For now, let's get back to Sam and Teal'c..." Janet suggested.
"Who must be wondering where the hell we are..." Jack said to his friends, and patted Daniel on the back, as they walked to the patio doors, and their friends outside...

"Well?" Daniel asked Janet, as she walked into his office, where he and Jack were talking...
Janet sat down. "The scans show that you do have a womb..."
"You what??!" Jack spluttered.
"... What he said..!" Daniel added quietly.
"And a baby..." Janet continued, making contact with her patient by looking into his eyes, and touching his hand.
"It can't be..." Daniel murmured. "It can't... be human..."
Jack drew in his breath. He was frightened, so what was Daniel feeling..? It must be beyond fear!"
"We'll have to do more tests..." Janet told them.
"Yet more tests..." Jack and Daniel both said, at the same time...

Jack and Daniel both felt a sense of 'fiction' about the situation, and had not talked about it in the months after that moment that more tests were first ordered.
Tonight though, they knew Janet would be confronting them, as they sat, looking at her. She'd seen them both at work, and told them to make sure they were both at home, at Daniel's place, this evening, as she needed to chat with them both.
Sitting opposite Jack and Daniel, Janet began "The DNA says that the baby is Jack's, and it's one hundred percent human..."
"I always wondered that about myself..." Jack quipped.
"That had better be a joke..." Janet sighed.
Jack nodded.
"So?" Janet asked, though, by the Regs, she wasn't meant to.
"We didn't know I had a womb at the time!" Daniel defended.
"Understandable..." Janet acquiesced.
"How has he got a womb? He's all man!" Jack pondered aloud.
"Apparently not!" Daniel mentioned.
"Some people are born with both genders, one dominant over the other... But both genders are not usually active..." Janet mused.
"Or did this happen to him, to start with, because of a Mission somewhere..?" Jack asked.
"Wouldn't the People In Charge love that..!?" Janet murmured.
" Could be a mix of both...More tests, more scrutiny..." Daniel guessed.

"We fucked each other, Daniel... You did me, I did you..." Jack sat on the sofa with his lover when Janet had left.
"You're not pregnant!" Daniel reminded him.
"I'll have the test, too..!" Jack couldn't quite believe he said that.
"You had your pee tested already, and you are not pregnant!" Daniel assured him. "I am..!"
"You're all man, Daniel..!" Jack reassured his lover and long-term friend...
"Maybe, maybe not... Maybe I never was, or maybe I'm just not anymore..." Daniel shivered, unsure of which theory he was more scared. "Remember that Ceremony on that planet where they were very open about gay relationships..? That drink I had to accept? That could have done it... Somehow..."
"We'll figure it out, Daniel..." Jack promised, hoping they could...
"I knew a few of them suspected me being gay..." Daniel confided.
"It must have happened our first night together..." Jack tried to do the math, assuming, hoping, the usual math could be applied still.
Daniel looked at Jack.
Jack was afraid, for one moment, that Daniel might now look on that first, precious night very differently...
Daniel smiled... And fought back tears...
Jack smiled... And, somewhere within, did the same...
"I have always wanted to be a father... A father... Not a mother... That was one of the reasons I went hetro for a while, and stayed on Abydos to be with Sha're... The chance to have a family... And when I delivered Shi'fu, I imagined I was his father..." Daniel looked to Jack.
Jack saw Daniel's tears. "You're the father, Daniel, of this baby... Just because you're having to do what the Mom usually does, that doesn't make you a Mom... It doesn't deny that you're male..."
"My very own, fully working female organs do though..!" Daniel laughed bitterly at the absurdity of that sentence...
"You are a man, Daniel... You fucked me the way a man fucks another man, remember!?? I definitely do!!!" Jack grinned.
"So do I..!" Daniel found he could still smile, a little... "Are we going to split up over this, Jack??"
"If you want to..." Jack replied.
"No..." Daniel stated honestly.
Jack touched Daniel's face. "I love you..."
"I love you, too..." Daniel spoke the truth...
It was a truth they had known of each other for a while now...
