Summary: Quiet moments in the night for Jack and Daniel, and Horatio and Eric
Jack sat in the cave with his team for this Mission, awaiting the storm's end, so that they could rejoin the rest of the expedition...
It was his turn to keep watch as the other team members slept... Horatio Caine and Eric Delko were opposite him. Daniel was next to him, and unable to sleep... His allergies were playing him up, and he'd run out of the right pills (all the storm's fault!), and he'd strained a muscle in his back, so overnighting in a cave wasn't all that comfortable. He leant on Jack, and Jack tried to look after him...
Daniel sniffed, and wiped his eyes with the heel of his hand, so that he had a chance to see through eyes that just wouldn't stop watering... He had to risk getting grit in them...
Jack looked at Daniel, eyes sore around the edges.
"I'm not crying..!" Daniel tried to grin. "Not being soppy!"
"Where do you get that word from?" Jack whispered, as they had to, speaking while the others slept.
"It's a word the British use... Means same as the term 'sappy'..." Daniel explained. "I like it better... Sap is the sticky stuff that comes from a tree!"
In a split second, thoughts of stickiness and Daniel made Jack smile. "I'm supposed to be concentrating on keeping an eye on your six!" Jack bemoaned.
Daniel tried not to laugh... It would only make him wince anyway!

Horatio sleepily turned to Eric. In the shadows, affording just a little bit of privacy to them both, he reached out and touched Eric's thigh, feeling the strength of it, the heat, the sudden and yet, the continuation of Eric's nearness...
Eric opened his eyes, and they met with Horatio's.
To the darkness, was brought light...
Their eyes smiled, and Eric put his hand over Horatio's hand, to keep it there...
Horatio leant across the small distance between them and breathed the words 'love you' onto Eric's brow.
Eric reached up, and caressed H's neck, placing a kiss behind the opposite ear...
Then, they settled, to sleep and dream together – hoping this new life, born from the dreams that inspired it, and the power to harness the bravery of their love, would never end...
