Jack watched Daniel sit down on the white sofa in his quarters aboard Enterprise. They had both been assigned here to do field work in the search for Iconian Gates, and 'Guardians Of Forever'; for the technology and the people who created them, and created those things called Stargates...

Jack & Daniel had been brought aboard, with other team mates, at the start of the V'Ger Incident, and stayed on afterward...

Jack's family had always celebrated the ancient human holiday known as Christmas, and it was that time of the year now. Of course, there were many other similar holidays, some at this time of year, some not, among the other Earth and non-Earth cultures on board the Starship Enterprise.

"Daniel," Jack began, "do you have any time that's your own over Christmas?"

"I've been given a few shifts off..." Daniel smiled.

"Me, too..." Jack mentioned.

Daniel was an Archaeologist and Anthropologist, with a background in Diplomacy. As was Jack's, his main mission was the Gates related work they did for Starfleet, but, of course, their Captain was James T. Kirk, the same as for every crew member, and he sent them on other Missions often. They did all the work for Starfleet they could. They were Starfleet Officers.

Jack was a Tactical and Security Specialist. He was no stranger to grief, which always seemed highlighted at this time of year. His job, of course, was very dangerous. A lot of his friends, with whom he would have celebrated Christmas, were no longer here... And his son died a decade ago, from injuries sustained by a phaser blast, a misfire from a found phaser weapon,, on the colony where Jack , his now ex-wife, and son, used to live. Jack would forever blame himself even though the weapon was not his.

"I haven't got any plans..." Daniel noted aloud.

"Me either. Want to spend your time here?" Jack asked.

"You and me..?" Daniel pondered, smiling again.

"Alone, yep..!" Jack grinned. He and Daniel were still early days in their relationship, but Jack already knew that, this Christmas, he had a great deal to be thankful for... He sat down, close to Daniel, and leant in to a kiss.

"What about the evening Christmas party that's been arranged for those of us who Celebrate it?" Daniel asked.

"We can still go, if we feel like it..!" Jack touched Daniel, as he said the word feel.

Daniel leant back on the sofa "Oh, yes..!" He smiled yet again. Hehad a rough personal history, too. His parents, whose work he'd dedicated his life to continuing, (thus, he'd found himself on the Gates path) had long since died, when he was a child. An accident while working in the field... But since he'd begun working on Starfleet's Stargate Program, he felt he belonged to a family again, as a member of its SG1 team – and since meeting Jack, he knew that he also wanted to dedicate his life to being with this man with whom he was in love...

In his quarters, Jim Kirk sat, contemplatively.

When the door chime went at the Entrance to his quarters, he called, "Come in..."

Spock entered, and stood before Jim.

"Is everything alright, Spock?" Jim asked.

"I believe so, Captain... For the moment..." He answered.

"What do you mean?" Jim looked up at him, alarm bells ringing.

"Jim, I..." Spock began.

Jim smiled. "Yes?" The tone in Spock's voice had made Jim realise this wasn't ship related.

"I... Do not know, exactly...." Spock puzzled.

"You can talk to me, my friend..." Jim said. "Sit down here..." He patted the spot on the sofa next to him.

"You may not wish me to..." Spock replied.

"What is it?" Jim worried.

"Stay seated, please. I am fine." Spock assured him a little.

"But??" Jim queried.

"I do know, Jim... I do know, exactly. I am just unsure of the wisdom of saying it." Spock furthered.

"What? Saying what, Spock?" Jim still looked up to where his friend still stood.

"Forget it, Jim, please. My emotions, my realisations brought on by V'Ger, are still close to the surface." Spock turned to go then.

Jim stood, and crossed the room; gently touching his friend's shoulder. "It's alright, Spock."

"It is not – as I said, but a moment ago, you may not wish me to." Spock noted.

"May not wish you to what?" Jim asked.

"Do not make me say it, please, Jim – not now." Spock replied.

"Were you going to tell me you love me, Spock?" The question spilled from somehere within Jim Kirk.

Spock turned around then. "Are my barriers so low that you can read it from me?"

"No! No, Spock. Don't fret. I just had a feeling... It's just a feeling, that's all; don't be afraid of it." Jim tried to tell Spock.

"You had a feeling?" Spock questioned.

"That you were going to tell me you love me, yes." Jim reiterated.

"Why?" Spock asked.

Jim grinned. "Damned if I know why you love me, Spock!" He then became more serious. "I had the intuition perhaps because I hoped it to be true." He paused. "I love you, too."

Spock stared at Jim. "You do?"

"Yes!" Jim smiled.

"Then, may I... kiss you..?" Spock braved.

"The human or the Vulcan way?" Jim grinned.

"Both." Spock answered.

Jim smiled, and took Spock in his arms for the first time.

Spock joined their fingers, and their lips. For the first time...

Soon, each man knew, within their embrace, they would want to share their entire bodies and minds... and soon, they would do so.

"Happy Christmas, Spock..." Jim whispered gently into his new, and most beloved, lover's lips...

"To you, too, Ashaya..!" Spock replied affectionately.

The End
