Written to fill the author's choice square in Ancient City Bingo over on LJ. I chose the prompt 'In the jumper'.

Well, my first two fics were threesomes, so I thought I'd have a go at the more traditional twosome this time…if you can say anything about Rodney is traditional *g*.

My fics keep getting longer. This one comes in at about 113 pages! Hopefully it's an entertaining 113 pages. Also? I've been writing this since March! Obviously not going to win any speed-writing competitions ever *vbg*.

Now, there is quite a bit of medical stuff in this, and I am so very not medically-minded and am far too idle to look it up. So, if it's all terribly unlikely, I apologise. Feel free to tell me what I did wrong ;).

Also, a kind of warning. My natural inclination is to write in quickly changing multiple povs, but one of my betas rightly told me off for this. I've tried to iron out what I can, but there were some places- mostly in the more emotionally/sexually charged scenes- that I wanted both participants povs and couldn't think of any way to do that other than by using multiple scene breaks ( *~* ). Please let me know if that makes things difficult to follow. Any other con crit also welcomed.

They haven't seen the final draft as I couldn't bear to wait any longer to post this. I haven't changed much, and only what they suggested, so hopefully it's not going to have them all up in arms :).

Notes: This is set after Storm/Eye, maybe a few months later. AU, as it disregards events in Brotherhood.

My maths rivals Ford's, so apologies for the vagueness go to any maths scholars out there. Also, I'm not a medical person, so any medical procedures herein are purely my imagination and I just hope they sound plausible/logical.

I like to think this is pretty dark, but I'm also willing to accept that John's recovery may not fit everyone's view of how things should be. I respect that view, point out that it's fiction and I can do what I want ;-P , and then point people in the direction of Kodiak Bear Country's Dear John and its follow up for a story depicting a hard recovery. There are others, but this was recent, and stuck in my mind.
